Add colour and energy to your life.

Judy Fairweather

I was born in Prince Edward Island but have lived in Alberta for most of my life. I have always been interested in expressing myself creatively in various mediums.

About 20 years ago I began carving songbirds and furthered my skills by carving shorebirds and waterfowl. Since then I have had tremendous fun creating Wood Wizards in cottonwood bark.

I have always been an avid gardener and several years ago I began to paint flowers in watercolour. I love the soft colours and patterns. Next I began exploring acrylics especially in an abstract and stylized vein.

My latest passion is alcohol inks. The vibrancy of the pigments and the unexpected flow of colours make this a very exciting and challenging medium.

I won first place in the Intermediate category for the Celebrating Canadian Art 2017 (a national juried show) for my watercolour painting "Blowin' in the Wind"

.

In 2019, my alcohol ink painting,"Secret Places" was chosen for the Strathcona County Permanent Art Collection.

I show my work regularly at the ASSC (Arts Society of Strathcona County) and have had several displays at many venues including Misericordia Hospital, Glenrose Hospital, Grey Nun's Hospital and the Cross Cancer Institute.

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs,
Ask yourself what makes you come alive.
And then go and do that.

Because what the world needs

Is people who are alive."
